Gregg
This photograph of the Gregg family of Tottenham was taken in about 1883.
This photograph came from Eileen Daniell, daughter of Albert Sidney Gregg (the youngest son of William John) with the following note:

My Father is dressed as a cricketer, and is standing between my Grandfather/Grandmother. My mother is sitting down, holding what looks like a croquet mallet. The remainder must have been my aunts and uncles, but I remember nothing outstanding about any of them. ASG 1955
In 1883, William John Gregg would have been 22. The presence of his wife (Isabella) would suggest that they were married at the time. The wedding took place in 1882.
The Infant on the lap of the lady in the centre is likely to be Nellie Elizabeth, the daughter of George jr and the first grandchild of George sr and Charlotte.. Nellie was born in the first three months of 1883, and so this would date the picture to the middle of that year.
The first child of William and Isabella (my grandfather William Stewart Gregg) was born in February 1884, and the fact that Isabella is not visibly pregnant would support the date of the photograph being mid 1883. The lady holding the baby must therefore be Harriet, George jr's wife.
The occasion of the photograph is something of a mystery. It might
have been the christening of Nellie, but William’s dress of cricketing
gear seems somewhat out of place. Given the known members of the family,
it is possible to hazard a guess at the other members of the group. They
are listed below - hovering over the faces on the photograph will reveal
the probable name.
